Does anyone have an eitzah of how I can purchase without taking out a second mortagage a cell phone for my son in the U.s. When I am in another country? His yeshiva has no phone

Have you considered a toll-free number? That way he can call you from anywhere, and you pay the bill. It’s only about 5 cents a minute for a toll-free call and that’s a lot cheaper than a monthly charge!
Call your local service provider and ask if they can make a you a toll-free number for free.

Tefila, I have a pay-as-you go phone from T-mobile that I ordered through their website. I don't use it excessively and it probably costs me like $10/month. There is no contract and no monthly bill. You buy phone cards or refill online. I guess it would depend how much he really needs to use it. I don't remember their rates for Canada. There are companies that have good deals to other countries, you'll have to search around. Most major companies have this option.
