hearing some of the numbers being thrown around on the other thread seems to beg the question of how do people pay for these weddings- is money set aside, do they keep refinancing their house... I'm curious how much of it ends up being tzedakah money and how much credit card....

Everyone is different. Some people can afford fancy expensive weddings. Some can’t. Some only spend money they have. Some spend money they don’t have. Some people save for kids weddings for years and years and years.

I am not up to weddings yet. Keep in mind that many of these ridiculous numbers are coming from Brooklyn where even a tiny house is worth close to a million dollars. I do not plan on going into credit card debt or asking for tzedaka but I do bh own a home and can easily take out a home equity loan.

People save what they can and the rest is gemach/litchee/gofundm/do without. Most large families couldn't even have a credit accepted so...
