Would like to go away for 4/5 days at the end of the summer. Preferably around up to a 5 hour drive from long island. With age appropriate activities for kids ages 5-9. Also nothing too strenuous because I'm pregnant. We have done lancaster and sesame place many times looking for some new ideas.

Onset
New Hampshire or Vermont
Poconos

Personally I’d rent a house with area for kids to run around safetly during down time to allow for adult relaxing time.

I am planning on going to Lake George with kids.
I believe its abt 4 hrs away. Is it best to leave at night or middle of the night?
How long do we need there 2 or 3 days?

Honestly, it doesn't pay to stay at the Arlington money wise. You don't get your money's worth. There are plenty nice hotels in the area. There's lots to do in New Hampshire. Alot of mountain activities and hiking trails. Clarks trading post, this old train that goes up a mountain (I forgot how it's called.)

Lake George magic forest is a great stop if your kids are still young enough not to need six flags. We went a few times and my kids have such great memories. It’s a bit weird and odd but totally geared toward younger kids. Very chilled.

Yes. I guess I called it weird and odd. We had a great time there year after year.
The safari ride is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen.
the rides are old but great for little kids.
Whenever we’ve gone (late in summer) there are no lines.
The staff is creepy but nice.
The displays and shows are also so odd and creepy it’s just part of the attraction.

What about Cape Cod and nearby Onset? You could take the ferry to CT if you are out on the island.
What are your requirements in terms of food or minyan?

Bzmommy, it's not $160 a night with food. It's $160 a night (plus tax, comes out to almost $200) just for the room. Food is an extra charge. A weekend stay with food is about $2000.
