I would love to do something nice with my children this sunday. I was thinking of doing an overnight: motzei-shabbos to sunday morning to make it a bit more exciting. We live in brooklyn and would like to keep it no more than 1-2 hours car ride and we need a minyan within a half hour drive. Any ideas? Anyone stayed at a motel or airbnb near monsey, monroe or new jersey? Any other ideas? Any motels with a bit of grass? Thanks for bringing a bit of excitement into what seems to be a dull summer for me this year!!!

I guess hotels wont work for one night!!! So I’m looking for something memorable to do by day

Keep in mind if you leave Brooklyn after Shabbos you’re not getting to monsey till 11pm-midnight. Then checkout is usually 10/11am. You’d only have 12 hours at the hotel.

I echo pesak zman, it doesn't pay to do an overnight over motzi shabbos, you'll just be sleeping and checking out.

I’m in brooklyn. Either would be ok. Anything not more than two hours from brooklyns ok. Its been a bit tough at home for reasons and I just wanted to do something nice and memorable with my husband and children.

Steam train - ferry - short hike to old castle with tour picnic. Return.
Sheffield Island ferry and light house, there is an aquarium next door (but it looks like there is a party there this Sunday)

Fort Mott / fort Delaware is a similar idea but may be further from you. It’s about 1.5 hours from Lakewood.
It’s a ferry to an island. Then you take a tram to an old fort. It’s very interesting.
Back on land there is picnic area and old buildings.
My family has enjoyed it a few times. You just need to get there early in the day to have enough time to catch the ferry.

If you really wanted to stay overnight you could go something near Lakewood.

Yes! Did lakewood hosts last year and had a beautiful time. So was thinking of doing something a bit different this year

Deal - prob super expensive this time of year
Manalapan
Cherry hill - it’s further south.

in williamsburg you can also take from Shaefer, a ferry to go to Brooklyn bridge park & governors island. The port is next to domino park. All parks are free. Check out weather Sunday my phone says rain.

Adventure Aquarium is in Camden, NJ. It's 2 hours from Brooklyn. If you want to do a nice dinner, the frum neighborhoods in Philly are 25 minutes away. They started their Hippo Season now and it's supposed to be really cool!
