Has anyone recently replaced an old central air unit and know pricing in NY?

My husband is an HVAC-R technician. There are so many variables that no one can answer this without lots of info. Size of unit, brand of unit, labor costs, etc all effect the cost. Most companies will give a free estimate.

We b"h didn't actually need to fully replace yet, meanwhile we are getting away with repairs.
The units were old when we bought the house and we needed to factor in what it would cost to replace.
