I once met a Conservative Jewish woman with 8 kids, all born in memory of Holocaust victims. Even if each non-frum home had one more child, it would help build up the Jewish people. The numbers of Jews has dropped dramatically.

sure, that would be nice, but a) this woman had a very "minority" opinion, most conservative jews dont think like that, especially now, two generations removed, with all the carbon fingerprint garbage in the news, and with many of htem being so concerned with "tikkun olam" and b) one visit to a holocaust museum might make s/o think, "maybe I should be more tolerant of other people," because that doesnt require much x, $, or effort. but for s/o to go home and say "wow we should have another kid, to increase the us jewish population!" that takes a whole lot more x $ and effort, and I wouldnt bet on it happening.

Also, why do you think that I don't know any non-frum Jews?

I dont, and I didnt, I was just saying your views, of their possible views (or rather how WE can change their views) seem sort of over-simplistic.

I think your idea is very nice and noble, but if your really believe it, I challenge you to go try to raise the money among frum people for such a plan. Most jews in the yeshivish community dont care to finance holocaust museums, regardless of hte message. the money comes from foundations, non jews, non religous jews, and many within the more modern orthodox population, where having families in the double digits is far from commonplace. I guess my issue is I still dont understand whats "wrong" with them teaching the idea of tolerance...as I said before, we have BYs and Yeshivos to teach our kids #1 of hte 613 mitzvos. Plus if youre growing up in a normal home, you shouldnt need a museum, to "instill" that lesson.

Again, I am not looking to these museums to teach frum people anything. I am saying that the idea of "universal tolerance" is not what the holocaust teaches us. The holocaust was unique and not like other persecutions of other nations. Jews were not given the choice to leave or even to convert to another faith (not that they should have). They were killed totally because of their genetics. It was uniquely Jewish and should have a uniquely Jewish response.

so it does. Jews can respond. but why should a museum not built or financed by frum jews teach people about pirya urivya. if "they" want it, let "them" put their money where their mouths are. the people who currently build and run these museums, and supply the money for them, dont care to teach that message, and why should something be forced down their throats if they dont want to hear it.
and the reason I put they in quotes is b/c I consider myself "part" of the "yeshiva world", and its not like im saying us vs them or something like that............

Because ................... they don't identify with Jews ?

there are extremely secular Jews who are extremely heavily Jewish, and rather traditional people who are only with non jews out of choice and an assimilated mindset. PLEASE. It's a mindset question.
