People need to be very careful when choosing a therapist... There are some "therapists" without licenses (either were never licensed or had it revoked). Always ask for a copy of a current license or go to the office of professions website in your state to make a search. In NYS, you find the discipline (psychologist, psychiatrist, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC etc.) You type the last name first and then add a space (no commas) followed by the first name.
