Would you let a dental student practice on you?

We don't have dental insurance, and I recently saw an ad placed by the dental school of a local university (a well-respected school). They're looking for patients for their students to practice on, and they charge about half the regular amount. Anyone ever done this? How was your experience? Is it totally crazy to consider doing it????

I don't know.. I need a root canal, and cannot pay for it. I was wondering the same. In the past I had a really poorly done root canal that needed surgery to fix the damage. However that one was done by a dentist, not a dental student! You bet I went to a specialist for the surgery.

They are heavily supervised and plenty interested in doing a good job.

happens to be that the head dentist is on top of everyone ... they are fully supervised ... it's a team effort ...

downside ... waiting list is long and times of the week are few ... and money must be upfront ...
