Has anyone tried freezing?
My family really likes it but it's such a pain....a pot to brown meat and veg, a pot to boil potatoes, a pan to bake.....plus very time consuming.
I would love to make in bulk and freeze but not sure it would work.
If you tried it and it came out good, can you give details like if you froze raw/ cooked, layers together or separate, how to defrost and was it soggy?
TIA.

I've never tried freezing shepherd's pie together but I think the potatoes would get a weird texture. We've frozen parve mashed potatoes before and when we defrosted them the texture was awful but dairy ones freeze well. Maybe freezing it without the potatoes and just adding the potatoes fresh would work? Everything else in shepherd's pie should freeze okay.
ETA: cook and then freeze

I have cooked it and froze it. It tasted delicious but I'm not picky about texture so I may not remember if the texture changed.

1) instant mashed potatoes
2) if you freeze it, it has to come up to boiling again when you reheat. Not over boiled but enough to thoroughly reheat. Once it comes up to that temp, you’re good to go.
