Until now ds wore colorful collarless shirts, colorful button downs, colorful sweaters. At what age do boys (Lakewood, not yeshivish but not super trendy) start wearing more classic looks on shabbos?
He's 6 now, I'm shopping for fall.

Im in the midwest but by the end of pre1a my oldest wanted to wear a white shirt on shabbos. He wanted to look like the big boys in shul and the park.

Usually around 7
Some before, some after
I just do white shirts with shabbos pants- not the whole suit unless we have a simcha
My boys usually don’t like to wear sweaters but I’ll buy 1 or 2 anyway for freezing days

Your first son you can pull off cute shabbos clothing for a while!! And then one day He’l tell you he wants white shirts! And then your done, because your next boys (if you have..) will insist on them a lot younger!! I have a 7 year old though and he hasn’t mentioned it yet, so I will be buying him colorful shabbos clothing still!
But always buy one white shirt cuz inevitably they will need one for an event at school and they don’t send the note home until the night before type!

My 3 year old wears a white shirt with wool tzitzis underneath and black pants.
