My only sibling, who married late in life is having his first baby very soon. No idea if it will be boy or girl. I want to buy something really, really special. My brother and SIL have been very generous always with my kids. So I also want to be generous. But hoping for something more special than just utilitarian. Ideas?

A high end personalized blanket. can be kept as a memento even after the baby doesnt use it anymore.

What's wrong with a utilitarian gift? Babies don't need "spectacular" things.
How about a really nice but still useful gift: a good crib/nice furniture, a high-end stroller, etc.?

Their first baby! They will "need" everything  .
You can offer to get them a "big ticket item" like stroller, swing, changing table...ask them what they want most and what fits best in their lifestyle.
So exciting!

My favorite gift was a sponsored newborn photoshoot. So different and we bh didnt need help paying for the regular basics at that point.
