this is very much NOT. they don't live in another world. pple who "see" thongs, in the context that we are talking, are very much involved in this world. very normal. it just happens to be that Hashem gave them gift and they are able to access the "other side", if you will.

this is a fascinating topic. because there is a story in the gemara about this about a tzadik, who before yom kippur, (I think), would go to the cemetery to "sleep" for the night, to remind himself where he came from and where hes going. and it happend 1 time, I year, that he was there and heard the voices of 2 young girls, their neshamas, who had passed away and were buried in this cemetery. and 1 said to the other " pass the brush", "pass the comb", "pass the makeup" etc... and he realized that they did not realize that they were in fact , no longer in the physical world and had not ascended properly to their place in the higher world of truth. and the reason for that is b/c in their lifetimes, these 2 young girls were so materialistic. they only paid attention to their pysicality and gave no thought to their souls.
needless to say this makes one think and reassess!

we know from different stories/sources, that this is not always the case. apparently gehenum is something one must "deserve", for the good. it is a punishment for a neshama to hang around the lower worlds when its not their "natural" place to be.

Christians seem to think hell is the worst punishment, but really one must go through gehinom and that cleanses their soul so they can go to heaven.
Not all, but most or some. Limbo is the worst state, the soul is neither here nor there, but they know what is going on and constantly relive their past life over and over again, but they are so evil they are not sorry and don't deserve to go anywhere.
Souls who think they are alive are not evil or bad as such, they just were very materialistic and their souls are attached to the physical world.
It is called Olam Habah because it is a world and we only deserve to go there through living on this world. Some have to make the journey in this world more often than others before they can go to Olam Habah, but everyone has a place there.

I though people like Hitler, Amalek, Haman (Y"SH) were in that limbo state- come on, they DON'T deserve to make it olam habah EVER. but I would think staying in gehinom FOREVER is worse than that limbo state.

no limbo is worse, because no one can be in gehinom more than 12 months. It;s a place with a goal, it's there to cleanse the soul, so no one could actually be there forever, but if the soul is banned from being cleansed, it can never be at peace.
