I asked a rabbi recently and he said its really better to give money that is not part of you allotted maaser money. money that you are only giving because of yizkor. the thing is that I like to give not only for my father but my grandparents, a great aunt with no jewish grandchildren, a great uncle who never married... wondering what is a reasonable amount to give per person, thinking I'll give more for father...

It doesn't have to be a large amount. It just has to be given in the name of yizkor money. You can do, $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, the sky is the limit. Whatever you feel comfortable with is ok as long as you actually do it and don't forget about it!
