My daughter’s seminary not allowed list includes MP4 MP5 players, iPods, itouch, iPads, you probably get the idea. Are MP3s so different than MP4s or MP5s? Am I looking at buying my daughter a CD player and CDs for listening to music?

What’s wrong with an MP3 player?

It doesn’t say MP3 players on the list. But it does say mp4 and mp5 players. I have no idea how they differ and I don’t want her to be inadvertently breaking rules as soon as she arrives.

MP3 is audio only.
MP4 is audio and video.
MP5 is a gun. 🤔

An MP3 is fine as long as it does not have internet capabilities. Look into Sandisk - they are popular with my kids and their friends (Yeshivish).
