Same
It would be great if someone can post links of what 40 yr olds wear. Accessories etc. I have no idea how to put myself together.
Keep in mind added recent weight gain. I've gone from size 12 to size 16.
Thank you!

I’m 47 and of course looked better when I was younger, but have no desire to put in the kind of effort people on this thread are mentioning just to leave the house! I‘m a floortime therapist so I wear a maxi and snood and no makeup to work and enjoy being comfortable. What you see is what you get. I don’t live in ny/nj so the social pressure isn’t nearly as bad as other people might be experiencing.
The whole point of physically aging is to get us real with the fact that we don’t live forever, and to help us chap arein to grab all the mitzvos we can in this world before it’s too late. I appreciate Hashem sending me a heads-up!

Haven't read through all replies, so this may have been mentioned.
I don't think it's necessarily about spending more money, but rather learning a few tricks. Figure out which colors enhance your natural beauty, for one. That should help you feel better in a snood.
Proper skin care is also important; follow a daily regimen.
Totally normal question btw. Appearance is alot.

I feel the same way and I'm in my 30s.
I just put on a ton of weight after the kids and it's never quite gone away, and I feel like I used to look effortlessly acceptably presentable. But now it just takes more work to look normal.
