I don't remember what language, but I believe it means "crown".
What was really beautiful about this (at least for me) was that, at a sheva brachos for a friend named Kayla and her chosson Nissen (which means "prince"), was that someone made a speech saying that their Nissen had finally found his crown (Kayla). I just thought it was a really beautiful thought. Smile

it means crown or wreath of laurels. it is yiddish, hebrew and gaelic. it can be spelled kayla, kaila, kaela, or caila. it is currently fairly popular in black communities, if I'm not mistaken.

It's another name linguists don't agree on. Could be
from keli
from name Kelila
from Geila/Gella ("blond")
