If the baby that is on the way is a girl, I would like to name her after my grandmother who recently passed away to whom I was very close. Unfortunately she did not really have a Hebrew name, her name was Edith. Does anybody know the Hebrew equivalent.
thank you

עידית - Idit - was the name of Lot's wife. I've heard it being used for girls, but it makes me cringe.

She had a Hebrew name because Edith is AFAIK from Hebrew Idit.

My grandmother was Edythe. Her Hebrew name was Yehudit/Yehudis.

what's on her ketuba?
Edith is NOT from Hebrew...
EDITH
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, German, Scandinavian, Dutch
Pronounced: EE-dith (English), E-dit (German) [key]
Derived from the Old English element ead "rich, blessed" combined with gyæ "war". This Old English name remained popular after the Norman conquest.
