I need to obtain a plain black cardigan sweater (or two) in a regular knit material, black buttons, no design or logos for my teenage dd. She is an adult size, small or medium, depending on how the clothes run. I would prefer to get them online and I would likewise prefer not to pay a fortune for these items. The closest I have come to what I think I am looking for is on Lands End, it is a fine gauge cardigan, but alas, it has white buttons! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Department stores. They often have the biggest selections.

I looked last week (in target) and found none. Black does not seem to be "in" anymore (gasp!)

Was it the Walmart store or online -- I looked online and did not see one that fit the specifications (oh, no hoods). We have no Walmarts in NYC, thanks to our local elected officials who are blocking Walmart from Brooklyn and the other boroughs

When I mentioned that to dd, she didn't think I could handle it. And the seamstress would probably laugh at me with an assignment like that.

You go to someone who does alterations to change buttons, like a cleaners. They do it all the time.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will see what gets past dd, and I have to check whether they are allowed to have collars.

Medium Black is available, and price is good.
But I might be boycotting JCP because I'm mad at them, so don't tell anyone I gave you this link
(Quality stuff though )

I'm so excited! DD and I were in target yesterday and saw one that fit the bill exactly, in her size. $17.99! The brand was Cherokee, which is not of the highest quality, but it will do, for now, and the price was right. I'm psyched!
