Sheva Brachos for niece or nephew

Hi! We recently made a sheva brachos for my nephew and I think we botched up in so many ways! Have some questions for you ladies with married nieces or nephews and hoping this will save some headaches for future SB makers!

1. Did you give a wedding gift in addition to making sheva Brachos?
2. It was a “family” sheva brachos- did your parents or in laws chip in or was it just siblings?
3. Were kids invited?
4. What is a reasonable price to spend per family (I know each family size is different so totals work)
5. What did you do for entertainment?

1. Did not give wedding gift in addition, would've loved to but sheva brochos came out very expensive
2. Parents weren't included (different situation)
3. Kids were not invited (would end up being too many people and getting too expensive again)
4.Depends how many people in the family. If its a larger family $100-$150, smaller family $200.00 it really depends on the menu etc..

1. Gift is a point of contention. Some ppl want to give. Others not. We are a huge family with bH multiple nieces and nephews getting married a year. We don’t spend a lot on sheva brachos But decided to not give wedding present bec there are bH so many expenses will be high. We do send gift for vort $20 each family.

2. My mother in law typically pays paper goods. Hall rental if we get. It depends if she makes her own or joins ours. We are a very simple family.

3. Really Over age 10 gets seat. But no one blinks if kids younger come. Older kids are expected to help set and serve. If it is in a house kids can end up in basement or kitchen. We cook ourselves. Will sometimes make kids menu like French fries and chicken nuggets.

4. I don’t think we set a price. We just plan a simple menu. Buy cheaper paper goods. Then compare what each person spent and ppl who spent less pay back ppl that spent more. (Like soda and coke slaw vs chicken). We don’t keep exact cheshbon.

5. Just speeches

That’s how it’s done in our circles
Chatan Kallah, NOT married siblings, parents, parent in laws do not pay
3. Since each needed to pay no one brings the kids
4. $75 per person

The actual cost was $50 but the extra goes to covering those that don’t pay
