Are some Light switches with built in timers, easy to use, or are they all difficult to learn to use, with following many steps?

I have one and its NOT user-friendly.

Digital or manual
The manual situations last longer and are easy to set. Like the old fashioned timers

Have you checked the Caseta system by Lutron.

It is a smart lighting system that works n your Wifi and has all kinds of options including scheduling.

The electrician who installed the switches also programmed the App but it’s very easy to use. I love being able to shut off lights when I am comfy in bed as well. Very Happy

Many outdoor lights come with a setting called dawn to dusk. They go on when it’s getting dark and stay in until
Morning unless you switch it on.

You can also buy a single smart switch ( check out Kasa, by TP-link) and set the schedule from your phone. Pretty simple.
