Does anyone know if this allowed? Or if you need to wait a year or whatever before doing so?
Not happy with the specialist we saw last time after our Dr retired and want to try a different doc in the practice.

Tia

(For reference this is a NYU pediatric specialist)

I think the only thing you can't switch for a year is a PCP.
For example I saw multiple specialists in the same year for second opinions etc

My question is not per insurance. It’s about the policy that many hospitals have.
Anyone familiar?

I think the best route would be to ask the relevant office. I'm assuming they don't all have the same policies, and even within this office who knows if the policy has changed since the last time anyone on imamother asked? What do you have to lose by calling?

You’re right... I’ll call them tomorrow iyh. But in the interim if anyone dealt with this recently and knows- please share.

The only thing I have to lose is about 30 minutes of hold time Wink

It's been my experience that most offices don't allow it

We had to do this before bec. we were very unsattisfied with our doctor. It wasn't so hard bec. after it happened no one really cared but we knew the sec. doctor wouldn't want to "steal" the first doctors patient. We ended up using one of the medical organization refferals as a "connection" to help us out. I would suggest you do the same too ! (BTW I am not referring to pediatric doctors rather adult specialist) Hatzlacha !

My child switched from one pediatrician to another within the same group with no issues. It really depends on the policy of the practice.
