My kids inherited lips that are very prone to chapping and cracking. Currently my 3 yr old and 1 yr old both have a terrible crack on their lips that bleed daily.
I already put Aquafor on all the time- we have a tub in each room. I tried Cerave skin healer which usually works for us but isn't. I tried Neosporin Lip Health cream which says it heals in 3 days. But it didn't. All my kids are chapped (genetics) but these cracks that bleed are a new level.
Advice?

They need to drink more water.
It's absolutely related.
As a kid I always licked my lips. They were always chapped. As an adult I see when I don't drink enough water I have the same issues. I push for my kids to drink a large amount of water every day. When they don't I see it 2 days later.
Water water water...

It can be dehydration. It can also be a deficiency of b vitamins.

Hydrate from within. Lots of fluids but also essential fatty acids.

Humidifier
+ Lucas papaw ointment
Both also good for badly chapped hands

Lanolin (lansinoh or the like) will heal it overnight. Youre welcome Smile

Medicated blistex!
The kind that is a white cream in a tube - not a stick.

OP, it's so hard! I was one of those kids, and 56 years later I still am. When I became frum, the biggest thing that scared me about Shabbos. "Can I still wear (untinted) lip gloss? How thin does the gloss have to be? What brand?"

Badger Balm products work really well, but sadly they are all way too thick to put on for Shabbos.

I find Vaseline to be the most hydrating

Or flexitol. You need to go to a pharmacy and ask for medical chapstick.

The absolute best is Burt's Bees lip balm. Get only the original plain one in the yellow tube. The ones with other flavors added or other colors don't work as well. You can get it at Target.

Avoid other products that have petroleum and other non-natural substances. They can actually dry the skin out more.
