DD really wantd to go to Israel during midwinter break for a family Simcha.
She is not vaccinated for covid, but just had covid in recent weeks, and we have a positive PCR test to prove it.
Now that Israel opened its gates to tourists, she can travel. But will she have to quarantine?
The official guidelines state that people who had covid in the past 6 months 'may' not have to quarantine upon arrival in Israel (beyond the first day until pcr results taken at the airport are back). What does 'may' mean. I want to make sure she does not have an issue or given a hard time when she gets to Israel. Does anyone know the exact new guidelines please?

From what I understand, American PCR tests are not acceptable. Only European digital records.

Ask your queston to an organization like Chaim V'Chessed. Check out their webite. They are up to date with info about requirements.

A PCR can come back positive for some time after recovery. If her PCR test at the airport came back positive, she would have to quarantine. As far as I know, American tests are not accepted, so a recent positive diagnosis is unlikely to help her.

It is so insane that American tests are not valid in Israel!
Is there a way to convert the PCR to an Israeli accepted format? What about a doctor note attesting to the fact that she just had Covid? Would that be accepted perhaps?

Thanks so much. I just checked their website, and it looks like it is not even just about having to quarantine. Instead, she would not even be allowed in altogether! There is no way I would vaccinate her when she just had Covid. The adults in the family are vaccinated, but it did not make sense for us to vaccinate the younger ones -- especially when they have natural immunity.
She would be very disappointed

No, to both questions.

Unfortunately neither Trump nor Biden invested in a digital national system like other countries in Europe did. Everything else is too easy to forge, so it's not accepted. Unfortunately at this time she won't be able to enter the country, quarantine or not.

That's actually what I thought, but wanted you to check to be sure. Very sad situation. Hopefully things will change soon for the better. You can sign up to receive their updates.
