Does anyone have a light colored sofa that crayon, pen, oil and ALL stains just come off effortlessly, and doesnt rip, or look damaged, no matter the wear and tear?
Does sofa fabric like that, exist?

Do you feel owning a dark practical fabric on your sofa, is uglier than covers?
If you had it to do over, would you still choose a light fabric, and cover it with covers?

We actually have dark colors. We inherited indistructably solid but ugly sofas so instead of spending money recovering them we just put on covers. Maybe we'll recover them once the kids are grown

There are sofas made which have removable upholstery so that it can be easily washed. This is not the funny looking ill fitting slip covers but are made like this.
On the other hand not all dark furniture are those hulking dark brown or black bulky leather sofas. There are elegant sofas that are dark colors. No fabric is indestructible but if you get one that is specified in terms of rub test and stain resistant, it will look elegant and also be durable. I had a forest green cordoroy sofa in the den and the fabric looked fine for over a decade. The cushions became misshapen but the fabric was fine. 🤷♀️ But that was after many years of hard use. Cordoroy isn’t the most elegant choice but there are mohair or velvet finish fabrics which are durable and elegant.
