I am only being home for one meal.. any ideas on how to heat up the food without having to keep an oven or hot plate on for 3 days for that one time it’s needed?
Trying to save on whatever energy costs I can…..

U can use a 3 day timer for a hot plate and just have it go on before the meal you need it for.

Try a shabbos clock for your hotplate

Interesting. Where can I get such a thing? Never heard of a 3 day timer but it sure sounds cool and exactly what I need..

Is a shabbos clock the same thing as a 3 day timer? Haven’t heard of either one.

Best advice I ever got:
Line a sheet pan with tea light and place on the floor of the oven. You wont believe how hot the oven gets!!
It is safe because it just burns out after a few hours.
You need about 15-20 tea lights

Please don’t do this. Not worth the risk. It gets very hot and if they’re too close together they can melt together and cause a fire. I’ve seen this happen.

And leaving a flame or hotplate on is a better idea? Tea lights can be monitored as they do not burn for too many hours.
Relying on a timer to work for 3 days might be scarier
Never had an issue with the tea lights. been doing it for years.

Very dangerous. Someone in our community had the entire oven blow up and explode from this.

I use a 24 hour timer (easier to set than a 7 day timer which I found too complicated).
Let's say your meal is at 12:30pm set the timer to go on at 10:30am and go off at 2:30pm. It will turn on and back off at the same time every day and it will be on when you need it.

Can you please post a link to the one you use?

Yes but shabbos clocks most commonly come in the 24 hour version.

tea lights can make an oven hot but not as hot as when the oven would be on 500 or Broil.

Sternos can get food pretty hot and will burn out on their own

My sister in law just told me she uses sternos and I thought that was brilliant. You can light them from your yartzeit candle.
Smart plug sounds like a great idea for a hot plate or electric oven. Maybe I should get one for the toaster oven and do toaster pizza one meal.
