And
First off, like I said earlier on, the best writers can be the worst rhyming poets
Second, if your fifth grader can do it too ( ) then why would you need someone as great as Etka Gittel | Wow. sorry if you took any of this personally. “Spewing?” Whoa. 😆
What’s the ignorance?
About sight words? Teachers are shifting back to phonics. NYTimes had a whole article recently. I was asking for feedback from literacy experts. Do you have an opinion? Teach me!
Secondly, the point of my post was that my fifth grader can write a rhyming book without being the best poet or writer per se. If the best writers can be worst rhyming poets then they shouldn’t write rhymes. 🤷♀️
Third of all, (and if we’re getting personal here, reading comp is essential prerequisite to writing) I would like Etta Gittel to write childrens fantasy. I’ve seen some of her adult stuff and it’s great. If you’re a great writer why don’t you write fantasy too? There,s room for a lot of it!
I am sorry that you feel we don’t appreciate good rhyme. (And I am allowed to disagree about verse vs prose) So why don’t you show us and prove us wrong? Instead of being virtually insulted - You can turn the tide we’ll all be thrilled.
… Show don’t tell 😉

If you want to write a young children’s book in rhyme, PLEASE make sure your poetic meter is sound. It’s so annoying to read aloud a book that has poor rhythm and the flow of syllable stress is off. Test it out on many people reading it aloud before you submit it.
And in terms of educational, of course your book can have an underlying message, but just weave it in subtly without preachy directives.
Hatzlacha!
And if you need an illustrator, let me know!

Like, um, true cooking isn't about the taste |
Rhyming is present in some poetry but not at all. So no, this can't be compared to cooking and taste.
OP, perhaps you meant rhythm and not rhyme?

Thanks for clarifying
yes I did
Rhythm
and Rhythm to the Rhyme
IMO some poets try and hide behind free verse
people dont realize how much skill it takes to write a good free verse poem - its NEEDS the rythm from keeping it away from a run on sentence
And rhyming rhythm takes much skill as well
