I am due, G-d willing, in a few weeks, and we will be moving our 16 months old into his 6 years old brother's room next week. Any tips on smooth transition? (I.e. toddler goes to sleep around 6:45 and wakes up between 6 and 6:30; 6 y.o. goes to bed at 8 and is up between 6 and 7, depending on the day)

Since their schedules seem to go together not bad unless your 6 yr old makes a lot of noise at bedtime, it shouldnt be too bad. If you already arent planning, I would move the 16 month old now, before the baby comes.
