So funny. I also start with cakes, when logically main dishes would be cooked first because if I ran out of time, we could manage without cake. This dates back to when I used to make meat dishes in the oven and wanted to bake cakes while the oven was still pareve. It's been years, all my meat and poultry are made stovetop, but I still start with baked goods.

That is exactly why I make cake first. So it’s parve. But I keep telling myself the meal is late and the meat and chicken can continue to cook on low until then… now for the fish and kugels.
