I'm reading a diary of a women living in the early 1900s. I'm really enjoying it, I'm wondering if anyone still keeps a diary today.

People must, because they're still sold, though an awful lot of people blog instead. I kept one when I was in Israel, more like a travelogue, not like a confessional. Places, impressions, events. I glance at it once every 20 years or so. I also kept one when I was in my dating years, but destroyed it after I had kids. There were things in there that I would never have wanted my children to see even after I was gone so I shredded it before any of them learned to read. I do still have my dh letters from before we got married, not sure what I'm going to about those. Probably shred them, too, when I'm old. They were never meant for anyone's eyes but mine, and even after we're gone we're entitled to our privacy.

I journaled a lot as a teenager. I should really throw those out like the above poster for, would never want my children to read them! I was a troubled teen.
These days I journal in my notes app on my phone. You can lock a note with a password. I have a need to express my emotions and thoughts in writing in order to calm myself.
