We were just given a dehydrator and so I'm looking for ideas and recipes. DH especially is interested in home made beef jerky, but the kids would like apples, berries, etc. Experience and recipes anyone?

We had one for Pesach. It takes a lo-o-ong time to do, for very little (it seems) results. Everything shrinks in a major way when dehydrated! And, of course, it goes very fast .
I loved almost every fruit- apples, pears, pineapples. If something's tart, you should add/sprinkle on sugar. Also, do thickish slices, too thin and it will just be crunchy.
You can also experiment with semi-dehydrating, so it's still a little moist.

I second using any fruits. Tomatoes are also good. So is dried corn (but it's a bit harder to do).

Bumping this up as I’m sure now it’s more common in people’s homes. I tried drying mango and it was terrible not like the store bought kind. Anyone have a better experience? I like the natural kind tried like chewy texture almost like a good fruit leather. Also anyone have a recipe for beef jerky?
