I used place-mats till now but need to replace, I can't decide what to get.
I don't want to wash a tablecloth every night...
What do you find the most practical? With kids too

Clear disposable tablecloths. Not cheap but a lifesaver for a working mom.

I consider my table milchigs so I only use a tablecloth for fleishigs which isn’t every night. I find washable tablecloths the easiest. They’re small and I just add them to whatever load is going up. Not a lot of extra work.

A wipe-clean flannel-back vinyl tablecloth, available at most housewares stores.
ETA only for fleishik meals. My table is designated milchik. Can't imagine why anyone would feel the need for a covering for a milchik meal, which is most of them.
I don't believe in placemats. Spills are not respecters of boundaries and won't limit themselves to the borders of a placemat.

Our table is also milchig and we put a vinyl tablecloth when we have fleishig. It washes easily with some paper towels and a little soap and water.

I use nothing for milchig and placemats for fleishigs. They are wipeable and washable. Much easier than a big tablecloth

I prefer my wipe clean tablecloths. My kids are messy and placemats aren't good enough when they spill stuff.

Same, but I do have hard time finding them, especially in 180 inch.
