DD is almost 3 and pottytrained. When she sits down on the potty she always likes to watch what comes out and comment (okay, amusing). I noticed her also sticking her hands down and touching her vulva and picking at her labia while she sits there, and sometimes when she’s getting dressed and undressed at home. I’m worried that she could nick or hurt herself and I’m also not sure what the proper approach here is. I don’t want to body shame and I have heard that this is natural for little kids. Please help!

Proper approach is to let her learn about her body. How will she hurt herself. Dont say anything. It is age appropriate.

I guess I need to make sure her nails are always short. She’s an active toddler and her hands aren’t always 100% clean like any kid. I’m not talking sticky, but normal day to day.

I tell mine it’s only for bath time. A. Her hands are filthy I don’t want her getting infections and B. Private parts are germy I don’t want her putting her hands in her mouth or eyes after.
