my cleaning lady put brand new expensive frum store dresses in the washing machine without asking me first. I am so sad because we took a trip to new york especially for tznuis clothing and now two of the dresses aren't tznius anymore.
what can I do:( is there a way to save them?

any advice how to tell her? the dresses were like $100 but the problem I'm having on how to deal with it is not as much how much it costs, its that you can't buy them again if I want to because the brand doesn't sell online, and I really like one of them

I believe dresses can shrink at the dry cleaners too. That happened to me once, and my dress was too short. It's really unpleasant! Unfortunately not always predictable.

Yes, soak in WATER and wear until dress is dry
To stretch.

That is so frustrating!
If stretching fails, consider adding matching material to the hem.

This is so frustrating. But, be aware it might have happened in the wash before it even went to the dryer.
I have purchased so many things in frum stores, washed them in cold and delicate, and they shrink anyway .
I am now pretty careful about not doing any alterations, until after I wash the clothing. If the dress is going to shrink, I don’t want to lose the money I invested in alterations along with the dress. It has happened too many times.
Just wondering: does your cleaning help always do the laundry?
If yes, you can tell her to not put dresses in the dryer, but then she won’t put any dresses in the dryer.
I’m not sure you can tell her that it’s her fault that the dresses are ruined. Unless you specifically asked her not to put the clothes in the dryer.

Most cotton clothes shrink somewhat after the first wash. You have to take that into account wrote buying. How would you prevent it? Never wash?

I have never had anything shrink on us unless it was put in the dryer.

OP, it doesn't matter if they don't sell online. You like the product and you know the sizes! Can you call the company, explain what happened, and ask them to ship? Or get a friend in NY to help out?

No need to be cold. Just stand in a warm shower with the dress on🚿
