I have a laptop that comes with a pen
My teen daughter enjoys making illustrations on photoshop and would like to take a course in the next few years on 3-d illustrations and such.

I was thinking of biting her a drawing tablet so that she can use it whenever she wants(she has limited access to the computer)
Anyone here with any experience on the topic?
I don't want to spend too much at this point.

Is it better to stick to the computer than a cheaper tablet that may not work a well?

Is it like using photoshop? Or a whole different program to learn?

So I actually give training in Digital Illustration for teens and adults and our Instructor recommends for beginners this tablet which actually is on sale now and very well priced. https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-D.....th=1.

There are several programs you can use to create the illustrations such as ClipStudio (which comes with the tablet, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fresco or procreate for a ipad

Thank you! I see this one works with the computer. I'm looking for a tablet that you draw directly on, independent of a computer.

If you don't want to connect to a computer, then your best bet is an ipad with an apple pencil. Procreate is an amazing app for drawing and only works on with ipads.

Just to add,

You can get Photoshop on an ipad. Maybe Android too. Not sure how much the it costs to get it though, it might be a lot.

Procreate is $10 and she can figure it if she knows Photoshop, but it has lots of hidden features so its good idea to take an online course, if thats an option

This is the ipad I have, its pretty affordable.

(It only works with the 1st gen pencil)
