Pretty basic but we like it.
Sautee 2 large onions.
Add 8 oz can mushrooms- reserve liquid.
Let cook.
Add 2 T flour, 2T onion soup mix in 1 C hot water & rest of mushroom juice. Mix til smooth.
Add a splash of wine.
Cook.

I did want a bit more color. Do you think if I sauté some cubed pepper with the onion it will taste good?

The flavors don’t rlly go with peppers.. if your want color you can sprinkle fresh parsley over whatever your serving the sauce with
