...of my arms when I try to hold him in a sitting position. His knees are stiff when I try to straighten them, and then if I can get him to sit flat on the floor he will launch himself backwards into my lap within a few seconds... Ditto if I try to prop him up against the back of the couch, he will slouch down lower and lower until he is lying on his back. Any tips? He has had plenty of tummy time since day 1, and can scoot around on his stomach and get up on his elbows and knees, but hasn't combined the two into crawling yet - which I'm not really concerned about at his age, it's the resistance to sitting that worries me...

My 6 month old also throws herself backwards when I try to sit her. It is tiring for them to sit when they aren't ready. Side sitting comes before actual sitting, look that up and see how your baby does with that first.

Just keep putting him on his tummy, he'll get there!
