My kids are mostly teens. They told me they had an amazing chol hamoed, BH!

I also had a great time and didn't spend a lot of money on anything win, win.

Agree, I think expectations are somewhat different here.
We did
Old city/Kotel/Ir David
Benny Friedman concert (10sh pp!)
Neot kedumim to see sukkah exhibit

Otherwise hung out at home and in the sukkah, played soccer, read, etc.

Haven't heard any complaining bH.

My teens were complaining a bit, too. I was hoping to take them on a major overnight, but it didnt work out due reasons beyond our control. (For various reasons, I like to save $$ for good trips to to during chol hamoed, vs. the summer).

So when my teens were compaining, my husband suggested that they go on a tour of the pediatric cancer ward. Or find a video about child labor in a 3rd world country...
Honestly!

Wow is that 10 Shek per person? Or did I misunderstand? My kids would have loved a concert but the cost would be over $300 for the cheapest tickets for my whole family

In general I think expectations are lower in Israel and it’s one of the big reasons I wish I lived there.

Dh and I both work so they grew up with lower expectations out of necessity.

I take off one day and pay for one family trip on one day (within reason, not crazy expensive things like Six Flags at $70pp!) and the rest comes out of their pockets. They opt for the ice cream store with friends or renting a movie at home on the other days. One paid for a film last year, regretted it, and did it again this year because her friends went and she loves to socialize. Her money, her choice.

OP, I would seriously cry if my kids said we did nothing after all the time and money spent on that list of things you did. You're amazing that you don't take it personally.

I prefer to do one major thing one day so they have what to brag about when they get back to school. Other days we spend time with extended families and do simpler trips
