My son age 7 has had red spots around his mouth since he was 2. Sometimes it becomes a pink, dryish tash.Every doctor I ever asked said it was drool/ licking his lips, but he has never drooled and I don't see that he licks his lips!!! Can anyone suggest anything for me?

Impetigo?
Rhagades from lack of iron? (Angular cheilitis?)
Google pictures and see if it looks similar to one of those two.

I don't think it is either of these. It is only red and not cracked. It also doesn't itch or bother him, which is why I haven't done much about it.

My daughter had that when she was a baby and it was an egg allergy, but she grew out of the allergy by age 3

My kids get this if they eat messily and get food around their mouths that doesn't get wiped immediately. It's kind of a contact rash but they're not really allergic to the foods that cause it. They just have sensitive skin and are prone to eczema and weird rashes. I find Aveeno helps both proactively and of they're not good about using Aveeno on a daily basis then at least it helps after the spots show.

My kid gets this from certain foods. It's a low level allergy

Is it worth doing food elimination? Maybe I will try taking him off dairy.

One of my kids has this. It's just a sensitivity, and not worth going off entire categories of food. My pediatrician recommended using coconut oil on the face before meals as a barrier between skin and food.

Did it work? I don't think he gets the actual food on his face when he eats

Sounds like a contact rash from an allergy. DD gets this sometimes when she eats specific foods.
