Heck - Hamaspik is responsible for the bulk of the services provided to individuals in the first place - you know what NY was offering developmentally disabled when Hamaspik started out? A fraction of what they give today. Just look at the other states and you know.
So yes - Hamaspik earns a living and employs many individuals but they are also very generous with their constituents |
Not hating on them at all! I was just explaining to the amothers above who said that its not coming to us, etc., that there are some of us that divide our child's budget a specific way only to be able to be part of their bonuses- somewhat like a business deal... they take about 45% of at least 500 billed hours, they provide yom tov pkgs, a shabbaton and chol hamoed trips. Otherwise, they only take an 18% cut of all billed hours. It's about 4-5k difference in how much they get, but in return, they provide a, b & c.
I love Hamaspik and all that they provide, which is why I chose to go with their agency.

possibly because I heard someone irl with that skewed perspective of 'they make money off our disabilities'
it rattled me so
you have an agency full of people focused on navigating the endless bureaucracy and red tape that the gov't puts between people and the services they provide - and this woman is full of complaints about how they are making money off her
these people could use their smarts to open any type of business
they are in the business of helping you
why can't she swallow that they're earning a living too?

self-direction doesn't receive gifts

We got ours last night! Self direction does receive gifts if you have 500 respite hours or 300 comhab hours billed through the agency annually.
