I’m thinking to do a space/ astronaut themed bday party at home for my 5 year old, any ideas of activities we can do at home? Anything connected with the theme maybe?

Decorate star-shaped cookies?
Pop the planets (balloon game)?
Poke holes in black construction paper and shine flashlights through to make stars?

Have the kids use building toys to make a spaceship. Alternatively, collect toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls and containers and other relatively clean/cleanable recycling type garbage and give the kids some tape and see what rocket ship designs they can come up with.
Search the Internet for an age appropriate space themed craft. Oriental Trading usually has kits or you can look for parenting blogs for more DIY type crafts.

Search online for DIY spaceships/ rockets made out of boxes. When my kids were small they were invited to a NASA themed party where the mom had constructed a few of these for the kids to play in. Very creative and fun.
