What percentage of people you know who live in Lakewood, Toms River & Jackson, travel to Manhattan 4 or 5 days a week, which means about 3 hours of travel, daily (and lots of gas and tolls)?

I only do it a a couple times a month, but it takes me 2-2/12hrs each way. 4-5hrs of daily driving would be brutal and I’d get burned out super quickly (I used to commute 90min each way/day and I did not last long)

I don't think many people drive both ways every day. People I know either carpool or more common, take the bus. I think you'd get burnt out pretty quickly from driving yourself every day. It's a hard commute. And don't fool yourself, it's not a 1.5 drive. It's longer than that.

I commute every day 1:15/1:30 each way. I actually love it, it’s my quiet time for the day, my break from work and kids.

DH used to commit 1.5 hours each way daily. After COVID he was able to get away with more like 3x a week.

My husband does too.

Theres a kollel bus that's pretty filled up I think, also NJ Transit and I'm not sure if Academy is still running. There are also people who drive both ways, or carpool.

Its definitely hard but my husband seems ok with it.

My husband used to commute daily, except Fridays. He had a carpool, which definitely helped, but he found it draining.
Bh he was able to switch jobs and is now working local. The daily 3 hour travel time is replaced with learning, work and family time.
Its also much easier on me. It was very hard to always do everything myself.

I did it for an extended period of time, 3 times a week to the 5 towns area, draining. I switched off driving with someone though. Took 3 hours some days
