My kids love to color on the kitchen table. It means we have a pile of coloring equipment on a windowsill nearby and before we eat there’s lots of paper and pens to clear- sometimes craft etc. I am now redoing my playroom- is there a way to make space for this in a way that won’t be messy (as have to walk through the playroom to get to the kitchen). Or a way of making it work better in the kitchen..
Thanks

A divided turntable is a great solution for crayons, markers etc.
Here’s a link to one, however they come in many sizes and colors.

For papers, I love the magazine files, again they come in many sizes and colors.

Another great option for crafts is multipurpose bins, I like the clear, but they make them colored for fun idea too.

The small size is great for papers, and bigger ones can hold more crafts.
What’s great about these is that they are narrow, and can usually fit quiet a bit, making it easier to subdivide. (depending on your space of course).

You can also use these small accessory box3s to divide crayons, markers etc, they’re small and cheap.

I suggest you set up a way to hang up the artwork when it's done so you don't have a paper mess. A few clotheslines and clips are an easy and pretty way to hang everyone's masterpieces. Then occasionally you can take pictures of the artists with their works and recycle them to make room for the next batch.

There's an Ikea bin that will nicely fit a stack of plain paper, and use the turntable linked above or another type of container for the coloring equipment. That should keep things organized.

A cart that keeps everything easy to reach while still neat and sorted.

Then a drop down table.

You might find that however beautiful the set up in the playroom is, they just prefer to be in the kitchen.

If there is a spare corner, get a small cupboard or set of shelves, and make them the official storage place for colouring and craft materials in the kitchen. At least then it is controlled.
