My mil paid for renting gown but I paid for alterations-$150
Sheitel-$100 (got 2 done, 1 for afruf)
Nails/waxing-$55 (gel)
Shoes-$200
Mil paid for makeup
Afruf outfit $300

DS outfits for afruf, wedding, sheva brachos-$300
DS shoes-$60
DS haircut-$25

I got a looooot of pressure especially when it came to DS’s outfits, they were very into it. I would’ve just let him wear regular shabbos outfits but it was very important to them and I decided for the sake of shalom…

Similar to those above who got from gemach and paid for everything else themselves, except for my siblings my mother will cover my makeup (in laws don't cover anything).

One brother in law got married out of town and that made the costs go way up. Bh it was driveable so car rental, hotel (only one fancy one nearby), gas tolls etc, plus no food was provided and sheva brochos was in a different city immediately so we had to order food for the duration of our stay.

We just had DH sister wedding 6 months ago

My father in law gave us 1000 toward expenses

Personally I bought a gown for $2500 (tht includes alternating and making it tznius etc )
Makeup $150
Wig $175
Nails I get done weekly so didn’t count it as a simcha expense

My husband didn’t get anything new
He got a hat rt before she got engaged
Wore a suit he had

My daughter - 1 year old
Outfit- $120
Headband - $20
Matching socks and shoes - $70

Definitely an expense but bh for simchos

I know when my siblings get married tho my parents will pay for it.

My sister is getting married soon. First wedding in the family in over ten years. I am shocked at prices of everything. I'm curious to know what people's breakdown of their wedding expenses were for a siblings wedding
Dress (gemach/rental/custom)
Shaitel
Makeup
Nails
Other

I just had 2 weddings:

Brooklyn
I bought gowns online and altered it.
People thought it the gowns were at least 1k.
Cost for each was under $200 including alterations (I did this twice)
Shaitel $200 first one $50 second first definitely held up better for the entire night but I couldn't find anyone cheaper for the first one.
Makeup $180 used same person for both
Nails $30 I did gel

Other -
I have children clothing for each was $50 - 70% off a popular local brand.

I have a genuine question for you. For years I wanted to understand how somebody spends $2500 on a dress they wear for 8 hours. Enlighten me please. I am genuinely curious. Its ok. I spend that kind of money on stuff other ppl wouldn’t so I would truly love to understand

For one wedding just 70 on a gown for me, I didnt like maternity gowns so I bought a very nice dress on pinkblush. My shaitel and makeup I was gonna do myself but someone wanted me to get it done so she paid for it.
Never got a manicure.
For next I spent about 180 on my dress but that includes a bra and shaper I can use for other times. Had shoes. Did my own shaitel and makeup and alterations.
For my kids I spent 50 dollars on both outfits combined but they wore it for yom tov.

When one of my siblings get married I will spend more probably because I will get a gown from a gemach and pay for my shaitel and makeup. Depending on my kids ages then I might get a babysitter. I dont think my parents would help pay for it. But first one of my siblings need to get engaged

I must live on Mars.
My DD is getting married IYH.
I bought a dress for $180, but it needs alterations to make tznius.

I will have my old shaital washed and set. I will have a $18 manicure.
DD 2 will have a dress for under $400 and the same manicure.

Shoes will come from DSW. I will see what I find. The dresses are gowns and cover feet!
