Does everyone have a heated garage?
In other threads people write that they keep blankets in their car to cover their toddlers in the car after taking off the coat.
How does that help?
The blanket has been sitting in a freezing cold car the whole night, how is a freezing blanket going to keep your child warm in the cold car?

It's mostly psychological that it makes them feel warmer till the car warms up...

We use thick fuzzy blankets and they are not cold. You can also take it in and out of the car technically

I agree. The blankets in my car are so cold that they make one colder when they are on!

You take off your coat and put on a blanket with sleeves when you drive and find them not to be cold?
Or you feel them with your hands before wrapping them on your kids?

If you only feel them how do you know that they are not cold?

Warm up the car beforehand.
