Another vote for wet brush. My kids prefer the one that's called the wet brush shine enhancer.

The Wet Brush is good but I find that a wide tooth good comb is even better for untangling - starting from the bottom.
For dry hair I just splurged on a Mason Pearson brush and it is wonderful. It is expensive but I waited for a sale.
