20 years ago people weren't taking family trips to Israel as frequently as now. Most of my friends first time to Israel was when they went to seminary.

Wow. Really? Its cultural or something. I was in sem 26 years ago and I had friends in high school who went every summer.

Keep in mind that the rest of the people on the flight will be watching something and if your kids are bored their eyes will be on everybody else's screens. Better to let them watch something that you chose then something R rated that the guy in front of them is watching.
I think it's more important to make a kiddush Hashem, and make sure they're all quiet and behaved while watching then for them to be all rowdy while you try to entertain them with other stuff.
As other people mentioned if you want to censure what they're watching just buy some tablets and have everybody hooked up to their own devices.
