How long would you deem them safe for?
Does it make a difference if they were in a metal pot that was covered when hot? Please respond in the thread

I know I'm terrible but I would smell them and judge accordingly.

How long were they out?

Hot pot doesn’t make a difference, unless they were still being heated at a decent temperature

Do not go according to smell, as lots of harmful bacteria would not cause a smell and you could still get very sick without anything looking/smelling/tasting off

I don't know what exactly chicken kneidlach are, but any cooked food by me is good for maximum 4-5 hours standing around at room temperature. If it's longer than that - goodbye food.

Don’t go by smell food poisoning is odorless. I would toss very high chance of food poisoning. Risking being seriously ill is never worth it.

They were cooked and still very hot when left out
The pit was also hot which probably kept them warm for a bit longer, which is why I mentioned it

I leave my chicken soup out every Friday night and put it in my fridge in the morning… and it’s fine!

How big is the pot? How many hours once it cooled down?

Let’s say this past shabbos… we probably ate soup around 6:30. So it was taken off the flame at 6:30. It’s a big soup pot- it had to cook down and then remained at room temperature until around 8:30 am shabbos morning.
I’ve been doing this for years.
