Duck sauce! You can put sliced onions on the bottom for added taste

Equal amounts of garlic powder, onion power and paprika. Add a smidge of oil to make a paste. Super yum

Mix -Ketchup, mayonnaise, apricot preserves, onion soup mix all together. If you don’t have the preserves you can use sweet and sour duck sauce. Shmear it on the chicken and bake. Tastes delicious and freezes well. You can add cubed potatoes and add it to the pan. Add a fresh green salad on the side and you have a delicious meal. 😉

Most of the suggestions here are loaded with sugar. (ketchup, duck sauce, BBQ sauce, apricot preserves, etc.)
Just mentioning for anyone trying to avoid sugar.

I was just going to say, anything that's not sweet? For all of you hungarians out there, I'm really polish like this. I don't like sweet chicken. Anything that isn't sweet please post!

Our favorites - most recipes are all google-able
Classic chicken marbella (olives, prunes, vinegary herby marinade)
Ottolenghi's chicken st claude (meant to be for wings but I use for all bone in chicken - has a savory spicy hot sauce / maple syrup sauce)
Roasted whole chicken with orange juice, sweet potatoes and garlic
Smothered onion chicken
Ottolenghi's zaatar sumac chicken

Why a sauce then? Seasoning is everything. Aromatics, herbs...

My kids love the honey garlic one from dinner done. It’s so easy and flavorful. I’d say more garlic tasting than sweet. 4 ingredients: garlic, honey, mayo and soy sauce

Spice an onion on top of chicken.
Add a spice mix of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, turmeric and a drop of cumin!
Cover and bake a while.
Super delicious!

Not every sauce has to be sweet.
Wine sauce- red wine or balsamic vinegar, tomato paste, water, minced garlic. Can add a spoon of onion soup mix if you're not opposed.
You can also add tomato sauce and diced onion with olives.
Another idea is salsa with peppers.
Mustard mixed with oil, chopped garlic, salt and pepper.
Lemon juice, white wine, oil, capers, garlic, and parsley.
