15 DS is Duck-Footed. When he stands he's feet face outward. When he runs, he legit looks like a duck. He may have had it for a while, I'm not sure, but now it's very obvious. What Dr handles this? Is this chiropractic? (It sounds like it could have to do with muscle tightness in hips) Or it says something about flat feet maybe?

Yes, but if it's a result of something higher up like I said tight hip, then it's chiropractic (hey my copays are super high, so figured I'd ask if anyone dealt with this.)

Start with his doctor who will refer you to the appropriate specialist which will probably be an orthopedist but not necessarily an orthopedic surgeon.

It is unlikely that it is related to his feet so I don't think a podiatrist would be appropriate. FWIW, in my experience people with flat feet tend to be pigeon toed because the act of turning the feet out makes it difficult to collapse the arch.

This is appropriate when it is prescribed by your doctor.

In general insurance wouldn't cover PT unless a doctor had written a prescription with a diagnosis and it was deemed medically appropriate for the condition.

As an adult I showed my duck feet to an orthopedic. He recommended arches for my flat feet, but Said theirs nothing to do about my duck feet. It's likely considered "cosmetic." I'm not tripping over them my husband married me with them but it does bother me when I get comments about it from time to time.

My ds13 has this too, although his is definitely more in one foot than the other. I pointed it out to his doctor, who told us it's only a cosmetic issue. If it really bothers us, we could do physical therapy for it, but he said the problem will likely resurface when he stops the therapy. So we decided to just accept it. Lol, we've got much bigger issues to focus on with him than this right now.

Tight hips, tight muscles in legs.
It could cause back problems later. If you can't get PT on insurance, pay for a good one to give a home program.

I thought I had heard it was loose hip joints that cause that.

Anyway the correction is to go get arches for flat feet made up for him.
