Britax ClickTight car seats are super easy to install. There are a few that I know are good and easy, Boulevard, Advocate, Marathon, One4Life. There is a new one called Poplar, I don't know if it is any good.

Can anyone recommend specific brands and models that two left handed people can use easily?

Still recommend the Birtax clicktight models, almost everyone in our family is left handed except for me. Has being a lefty made a difference in their car seat use?

For the record, my mother who is left handed, says opening the seat bottom for the install mechanism on the Britax One4Life was easier than the Marathon/Boulevard/Advocate (which has something you twist instead, maybe the direction was harder because she is a lefty, I didn't ask).

Only one of us is really left handed. Were just very impatient with assembly instructions, so we want something easy enough for a 5 year old to put into the car and take out. Were not looking for anything requiring study and concentration of a manual.

For a 5 year old you can probably just use a backless booster

Why don't you get this?
Works and legal if child is over 4 years old and over 40 pounds.

Thanks, but I dont think I want to spend $199 for a car seat that will be used a few times a year. The easier to use and cheaper the better.

You can get something like this.
Can use from newborn. Max weight is 40lbs tho. You mentioned a 5 year old, unless the child is really small that wouldn't work anymore.
